I'm thinking $600+ is a lot to spend even on a high quality optic.

You guys Trijicon fans or detractors?
Specifically I'm looking at a used Trijicon RM01 3.25 MOA red dot.
If I can get it for 350ish it is distinctly more attractive and affordable and I could always get most of my money back.

    Any experience here???

Seems to me, with very limited experience, that the dot is hard to pick up out at arms length on a pistol, but I'm suspecting it would make for fun plinking on a .45 carbine I have.

    Anybody?

I love 'em. I use them on AR15s, shotguns, and pistols. Buy once, cry once. Get the Adjustable LED. Don't waste your time and money on the Dual Illumination models.

I got the RMR 02. Picked it up on eBay for $475 or so. It came without the box but was new in a sealed package. My eyesight is not as good as my trigger control so it helps me a lot. More money than I thought I'd ever spend, but hey, it's only money.

    Thanks all.
I can get it for 375 + tax with the mount
    Probably will at that price.

I have an Accupoint, a couple ACOGs an an SRS(with it's problems!).

An RMR (or two) is the next logical purchase.

    Likely will.
Went and fondled it today at the shop.

    Nice little piece if electronics.
How DO they get all that life out of a little battery???

It does take a little more practice, but if you can consistently raise the sights to be in line with your eye, then you'll get the hang of the dot pretty quickly. It's a great little red dot.

I have one on top of my Glock 34 MOS. Right about 25 rounds while testing the whole RMR hit me on the forehead, the screws came loose. The two screws (a little short) and the shim/plate that was supplied and specifically designed for the Glock MOS failed. I ordered a few screws that are longer and ground them down to the right length... Installed it with some blue Loctite and it is still holding.

I love it and it is a solid design. The only suggestion I can give you is get one and pick the front sight first on the pistol to help you find that red dot faster.

    Good luck.

I was mistaken, it does not have auto-off. But the Adjustable LED model can definitely be turned off. I just realized that I never turn mine off; just checked and they're still on. lol

Off topic for this thread but Eotech's are not as power efficient.
    Auto off.
EoTech's auto shut-off after 4 or 8 hours depending on which brightness adjustment button you used to turn it on (4 hours for the down button, 8 hours for the up).
