I was at Cabela's and saw they had a bunch of pump shotguns on the floor. Many were Tristar and they felt nice in the hands and had a beefy feel to them. I don't know much about this brand and never shot any Tristar guns. Are they good, reliable shotguns for HD use?

I have 2 semi-autos. I have not shot them enough to say one way or the other. The Tristar is made in Turkey and seem well made to me. I originally bought the 12 for waterfowl hunting, but then quit going for other reasons. I did do some quail hunting with it. I have no complaints and since both were under $500 I figured I could not go wrong. The other is a 20 ga. ute model. Just got it and the grandkids have not shot it, yet. If you want a home defense shotgun I suggest you get one designed for that purpose.
