The reason they are still pushing this impeachment, if an elected official is impeached twice, they can no longer run for POTUS or Vice-POTUS. If Trump is impeached this second time, he can't run in 2024.
Mmmmm... Trump has already been impeached twice and is still eligible to hold office. Even if convicted it requires another act of Congress to deem him ineligible to hold public office in the future.

    Removal and disqualification[edit]
Conviction immediately removes the defendant from office. Following the vote on conviction, the Senate may by a separate vote also bar the individual from holding future federal office, elected or appointed. As the threshold for disqualification is not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution, the Senate has taken the position that disqualification votes only require a simple majority rather than a two-thirds supermajority. The Senate has used disqualification sparingly, as only three individuals have been disqualified from holding future office.

Ten House Republicans joined Democrats to impeach President Trump on charges of "incitement of an insurrection," making him the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice. With 10 Republican votes, Trump's second impeachment was the most bipartisan one in history.

    It don't mean nothin'.

So true. I had a thought watching this circus this morning (after they took a vote on witness(es) and then asked what the vote was actually about, FFS): We need the equivalent of "baseball cards" for each of our esteemed representatives. It would show their party, but more importantly, would also show where they attended law school or other higher education facility. These idiots are full-time embarrassing us as the electorate, we need to share the shame with the institutions that "molded" them. Instead of stats, it could show their last 50 votes and such. I'd start with Jamie Raskin. What a weasel (apologies to actual weasels).

Now maybe these worthless Public Servants can get some real work for the U.S. done now. Their Dog and Pony impeachment scandal was solely for the entertainment of their ILK. "Look we did something".

    Or, to save time:
The seven GOP senators who joined with all Democrats in finding Trump guilty were: Sens. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.

I don't understand why they (those listed and a couple others) even bother to be in the Republican party. It makes no sense. Why wouldn't you go indipendent and 'lean' republican or whatever? Then you'd not have live up to any expectations or risk pissing off everyone else in your party.
