I feel like this pack is a very high value piece of gear so I want to share it with the rest of you. Built for the military so they are very rugged and durable. You just dont have to worry about it. Holds tons of gear, rated for 120lbs. Easy to find for around 60-75 bucks. great for car bag, bob, emergency bag, hunting or camping/hiking. If anyone else has experience with these please share your opinion!

Whatever happened to a bed roll, mess kit, canteen, ammo belt, gas mask, and a knap sack?

Back in the 70's, the Infantry vowed to lower the grunt's load. Instead, they developed "Improved" ways to carry more schnitt.

Humans have not evolved enough to carry more than 40 pounds over extended distances on foot for long times on end. That's why humanity invented draft animals, the wheel, carts, and eventually motorized vehicles.

Try to hump that 120 pound ruck into the next zip code!

I never would recommend carrying that much stuff. But you may have to carry lots of weight if you quarter out an elk. And you dont have to worry about busting a hole in it

I have my old ALICE pack (with frame) and web-gear/harness and am looking to upgrade and the ILBE might be just what I am looking for. Is there a recommended tactical or combat vest (MOLLE or other) that would be used with this?

I picked one up and its pretty heavy compared to an alice pack but other than that its a great ruck. Very versatile.

As someone who was issued one of these I can attest that they are a great pack if you A: pack it right, and B: strap it on right. They can easily carry the weight but if you don't distribute it right you will be very lopsided. I would love to pick one up but haven't been able to justify it as I have quite a few packs already. Also these are no longer standard USMC issue, they were phased out and replaced right as I was getting out with the new FILBE pack. FILBE - Soldier Systems Daily

that new pack is interesting. any idea on a civilian price?

Its design is very similar to the ILBE so i dont think i would buy it unless it was under $100 bucks since the ILBE is only$70

Used mine this weekend at a buddys ranch. Pack them and adjust everything they work well. Was really suprised at how comfortable it was.

It is a smaller overall package, and going rate from what I've seen seems to be in the $400 range but I think that also includes the assault pack (backpack). To be fair getting the ILBE brand new from a dealer etc it is probably closer to the $250 range. Cheapest I've been able to find one (including EBay) with everything included was in the $125-150 range. Not saying they are not out there for $70 and I believe you found it at that price (please post the link if you wouldn't mind) but just going off of the averages I've seen looking into them.
