    Hi All!

Was in Round Rock having dinner with the family at Outback (between Hesters Crossing and Mc Neil, east of I35) and noticed that there is a virtual shooting range for both guns and archery in the old Half Price Books store called Safe Range.

Anybody been there? We stopped by and ended up with the grand tour, even got to try out the simulator, they do use real guns fitted with a special barrel or bolt (AR15), I think the guy was bored, no one else there on the Wednesday evening. Looks to be an interesting place if you like simulator shooting.

It's no substitute for Shady Oaks, but the personal defense simulations are based on LE scenarios and are interesting to go through. Some resolve themselves without the need for deadly force, but if you're quick on the trigger, you'd never know it. :)

Really friendly staff and a great and informative way to spend an hour.

    Recommended.

Back in 2000, I and another friend started a company that created some software/games for a virtual shooting outfit that used a projector and lasers mounted inside real guns. I created turkeys walking around in brush and some other cool scenarios (in 3D). Not sure what happened to the company we developed for but it showed promise and was real accurate. I'll have to check this place out.
