They used a metal detector.........to find buried guns? Who was digging holes? In broad daylight, during a gun fight.....

DOn't forget that the majority if not all of the theater was either inside the restaurant or in the "parking lot". With nothing but human hands (soft tissue) or small tools (pocket knife?) would be available in the two minutes to dig through 6" of CONCRETE. They should go back and sweep the area with the metal detectors again just to make sure.
