I got a set of these for Christmas.
    http://www.gsmoutdoors.com/shopping/Silencer-in-the-Ear-PAIR-P1032.aspx
The weather finally cooperated, sorta, so I went to the range today.
I had previously tried the different size ear pieces and had the fitting process done already.
Once I had my gun and gear set up, I grabbed the ear buds. They were pretty cold and the moldable earpieces were pretty stiff, but pliable enough to "roll to fit". When turned on, a chime let's you know they're working.
I donned a toboggan and started shooting. The suppression was surprisingly adequate for a bolt action chambered in .223. No muzzle attachments of anykind.
Hearing bullet strikes on coroplast and cardboard backers at 100 and 200 yrs was pretty neat. The train horn from several miles away was pretty clear. Traffic on the county road could be heard easily. Almost too easily. A hunter (apparently after sand hill cranes) on the adjacent property could be heard also.
As the afternoon went on, and I made several trips downrange to 200 yds, the sun peeked out and I warmed up a bit. I rolled the toboggan up off my ears and the 15 mph crossword became a roar in the ear toward the wind. Not terrible, but a conversation wasn't going to happen. The volume knobs are not hard to manipulate and turning down the earpiece in the wind solved the problem. By the time I got ready to fire again, I'd turned the volume back up and rolled the toboggan back over my ears.
    Overall, I'm very pleased.
I wore the plugs about 2 hours straight with no discomfort at all.

I'm looking forward to a range day with other people and being able to have a conversation without subjecting myself to further hearing damage because I forgot to grab my muffs before someone fires.

Sounds a lot better than dealing with bulky muffs for rifle shooting.

What is the NRR for them?

That's pretty good. I've got some Howard Leights I use when I pistol shoot, but they don't seal that great over eye pro arms. I hate shooting rifles with any kind of muff because I can't get a good cheek weld. Correctly inserted foam plugs make conversation darn near impossible. Thanks for the review Vaq, I'll definitely take a look at those.

    Yes. Listed as 25 NNR.
I'd say actual field use equals the disposable foam plugs rated at 30 NRR.
At least for the fit I experienced.

I've been meaning to give an update.
I made it out to a public range a couple of weeks ago.
I was firing my AR15, 16" bbl Flash hider on the muzzle.
Y'all know how loud they are. A couple more AR15s and some bolt guns down the line. Nice weather, ball cap.
I still really like these. I could hear the RSO clearly. Trips downrange were more comfortable for me, because I could actually hear the conversations at the bench. No discomfort.
One guy was shooting a suppressed bolt gun, it took a bit to figure out what I was, or wasn't hearing when he fired. It just sounded odd.

Worth the price in my opinion.

I'd say they're on par with foam plugs.
I've turned them off and fired a few rounds and tried to listen to sounds that I knew were there. Pretty much the same.

I just haven't worn the Howard leights enough to be objective.

IME, foam plugs have been the best noise killers. Howard leights do pretty well and I've got no complaints but not the same as foam.

Just wanted to be sure they could handle LOUD guns before considering a set...seems I've lost my Howard leights somewhere.

    Hmm.
In order to further this review, I think I need to run some full power .357 mag through the revolvers. Not quite up to 50 BMG LOUD, but as loud as I've got currently.

Shot some .357 about a month back with no ear pro to get rid of some unwanted pests.

    Definitely a worthy test...

    Oh.
    Very seldom.
Migratory route does seem to be shifting though.
We even had some Canadian geese stop by this year.

Okay, fine, just be that way will ya. Now I have to add yet another page to my list.

Thanks for a real person opinion. YouTube and print opinions and reviews are a good start but, knowing a person that actually has and or uses something is so much better.
