Thanks for the invite to this room.

I am the owner and CEO of Tactical Immersion a disabled veteran business that specializes in basic through advanced level tactical training. My background is available on my webpage; however, the basics are that I served 10 years in the Army (light and mech infantry, Scout plt, Sniper section). I was a senior small arms and advanced marksmanship instructor. I wrote several of the current advanced weapons training programs and I also was a senior instructor at the TF-SARG weapons & marksmanship instructor development academy. I hold several certifications from the Army, local & state LEA’s and nationally recognized associations and training firms. I have deployed twice to Iraq for a total of 29 months of combat service. I was injured on my last deployment and I am currently being medically retired.

I'm Travis Brown, and my company is Dillo Dynamics. We cater mainly to beginners and intermediate shooters, and try to offer something a bit more modern and effective than the entry level NRA courses many of those students may typically attend. I've been shooting and training seriously for the past 8 years roughly, competing in IDPA for the past ~2 years. I'm an NRA certified Basic Pistol Instructor, and currently awaiting the Texas DPS to put me in a CHL Instructor's class before I run out of air holding my breath. ;)

Sig Fiend, thank you for opening this section. I imagine it will be a great resource for us all.

I have been a CHL Instructor since 2003. I became involved with DFW Gun Range through a business association with the owner. Through 2006 I ran the training academy for them. I have been a DPS Private Security Instructor since the mid 90s, and I taught level 3 classes and CHL Classes. I ended my full time relationship with DFW in 2006 when I took an offer with my current employer.

However, I continued to teach weekend CHL classes there up until last May. Shoot Smart in Ft Worth opened in March, and they give me 2 initials and one renewal a month, and the pay is significantly better. I also teach a new one on one shooter course, and I have developed an intermediate CHL course we will implement when Shoot Smart completes its expansion project.

I grew up with a firearms instructor. My father was one for DPS, and then the Dallas Sheriffs Office when he retitred from DPS. I cut my teeth on revolvers back when we made fun of semi auto shooters ('lectric guns). I converted in the late '80s to the semi.

On the Security side, in addition to the Level 3 course I developed a conversion course for those transitioning from revolvers to semi auto, and I have taught a pistol and shotgun "stressfire" course.

My passion is teaching, and if I could feed my family from doing it full time I would. I am working on that.

Looking forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Much like what Travis aka Sigfiend said, i like to mix up the basic NRA and CHL courses and work a mixture of tactics into classes. Force on force sim round class got me very intrested in becoming an instructor. On a side note DirtyD taught my CHL class back when I lived in Houston. Took my first defensive pistol class from a retired preacher two years ago and been going full blast ever sense.

Edit: Been through a home invasion, and can use my experience to teach others. Also got me interested in teaching.

Thanks for the invite DCAV! I am slow and was leaving "the" off of the password! But that is what I got in the PM! So, anyway, I got it figured out finally and thanks for putting up with the problems in the beginning.

I am XLEO with 18 years total time. Last four years were with the Denton County SO. FTO and Instructor with CLEET in OK and TCLEOSE here in Texas. I am certified for all the NRA courses with the exception of black powder! I do not do black powder! I teach TX CHL and have a two lane firing range covered on my acreage west of Krum.

My middle child, second girl, and I are both attorneys in Denton. She is also XLEO out of Carrollton PD and teaches the Use of Force in all my CHL classes. It takes her two hours to go through the material we have put together for our students and it probably goes a little too deep for them/ I do believe they need to see it and talk about it to know it is there and it affects them.

I do criminal defense, family law, probate guardianship and some general civil litigation. I think as XLEO with 18 years service and 15 years as a practicing attorney here in Texas I am qualified to teach use of force. My insurance is through NRA for my gun classes and is very reasonable. Never had to use it but it is there.

That is probably more than you all wanted to know but anyway, hello, and I am glad to be here. I lurk around more than post and have enjoyed the forum. I don't have all the answers but I would bet I can help guide and direct you if you need it.

    Thanks for having me!

I'm Paul Gomez. I travel around teaching. Most of what I teach is gun stuff, primarily pistol, although I still do an occasional AK or carbine class. I've been posting videos on YouTube for the last several months attempting to get solid information out to a wider range of people. I've posted links to several of those on the forum.

I am Jon Payne, I'm a Tier 1 Instructor for Suarez International and a TX CHL Instructor. I'm one of the busiest instructors in my area of SE TX. My background is with the USAF Security Police as a Security Specialist, Law Enforcement Specialist, and later a Combat Arms Instructor (CATM) where I not only taught all the small arms in USAF inventory, but was an armorer for them as well. In my police academy I was the "Top Gun" and I'm an Advanced Peace Officer in the State of Texas. Currently I hold a county commission as a Deputy Constable and I'm a part-time paid patrolman for a small municipality. When I'm not patrolling I teach CHL and SI courses. Before I went part-time, I was a full-time officer for a medium size city for 7 years. When I was in the USAF I discovered teaching was my passion and I have been blessed to be able to carry my passion over to the civilian world. I'm also blessed to have the Orange Gun Club as my home range and it has proved to be one of the finest ranges in TX.
