    I am curious what everyone would like to see accomplished in the next legislative session, wrt to guns. Not looking to debate it, just to see what different folks want. How about a simple numbered list like this:

    1) Parking Lot Protection
    2) CHL Carry Exemption just like LEOs
    3) Reduced CHL Fees
    4) Range Protection Laws
    5)

    Texas:

    1) Parking Lot Protection
    2) Change possession under the NFA to "it is an exception to the application of" rather than a "It is a defense to prosecution"
    3) Range Protection Laws
    4) Take "Switch Blades" out of prohibited weapons or at least make "The term does not include a knife that has a spring, detent, or other mechanism designed to create a bias toward closure and that requires exertion applied to the blade by hand, wrist, or arm to overcome the bias toward closure and open the knife." more clear and fair.
    5) Reduced CHL Fees
    4) Remove Metal Detectors from State Capital
    6) Open Carry push
    7) No city or county etc may make knife laws more restrictive than state laws.

    Federal Level:
    1) Reclassify a silencer as an "any other weapon"
    2) Nation wide CHL
    3) Uphold state laws that say firearms manufactured in the state, and which remain in the state, are exempt from United States federal firearms regulations.

    For the upcoming session;

    - Campus Carry
    - Parking Lot/Personal Vehicle protection

    Down the road;

    - Open Carry

    Really thinking big;

    - Constitutional Carry (ie, its your right to carry if not precluded by law)

    Elimination of victim disarmament locations.
    Far less regulation on CHL
    Open Carry

    or-

    Simple and complete constitutional carry law- which by definition should address every one of the other points.

    1. Exception to 46.03 for CHL holders and removal of 46.035 location restrictions
    2. Delete 46.035 (a)
    3. Remove ability of municipalities to enforce any ordinances related to firearms
    4. Amend 30.06 so that the only legal notice that can be given is a verbal order to depart premises by property owner or representative of property owner (ie no signs).

    The Constitutional protection approach is actually looking like the issue that will get the most support, at least at this moment...then it makes the rest fall in place from there.

    If it's worded as "Consitutional Carry" there is that nagging picture of someone carrying a shotgun slung over a sholder walking down the street...if it's worded as "Constitutional Protection" and concentrates on the State and Fed Constitutional rights of law abiding citizens (not just gun owners, EVERYONE), then you can open a lot of doors while taking away a lot of the argument from the anti-gun folks...

    Then it's not a mater "if we can" but "why can't we?" and can change the tone of if not over turn ever gun law now on the books. And with the recent Supreme Court ruling on the case in Chicago, it looks like this could be the fast track to examination of the current laws at the state and federal levels...

    Who wants to be seen as Anti-Constitution?

    1 Parking Lot protection.
    2 As Matefrio said the knife laws are highly confusing.
    3 Campus carry.

    1. Campus Carry
    2. Parking Lot Protection
    3. Constitutional Carry (not likely to happen)

    Anything else that can incrementally expand our self-defense rights.

    OK. Another way to get the same effect would be to prohibit employers from firing employees who refuse to allow their vehicles to be searched. Maybe that would get more support also, since it has nothing to do with "guns in the workplace" etc..

    I would love to see this deleted:

    TITLE 9. OFFENSES AGAINST PUBLIC ORDER AND DECENCY

    CHAPTER 42. DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND RELATED OFFENSES

    Sec. 42.01. DISORDERLY CONDUCT. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly:

    ...

    (8) displays a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner calculated to alarm;

    What would I like?? Just delete 46.02 and 46.03...

    Realistically?
    1) parking lot issue
    2) campus carry and less restrictions in general for where CHLers can carry
    3) local knife laws cannot be more restrictive than state laws
    4) unlicensed open carry
    5) unlicensed concealed carry
    6) no such thing as an "illegal knife"
