I know a few honey holes in Houston but pricey, the best bet is Academy first thing in the morning on truck days. They usually don't even bother putting it in gun department but right up front, yesterday got some 5.56 green tips and 9mm brass. 3 boxes max on popular calibers though. Wonder what today will bring?

For some strange reason Academy does seem to be keeping prices reasonable if you are willing to stand in line outside for an hour on the slim chance they will have any 9mm. Last 3 times I went primarily to buy .22 LR which they had some 2 of the 3 times, but never had any 9mm.

It's because they know that we remember.

Limits right now are a good thing. Jacking the prices up isn't.

My local hardware store carries ammunition. I went in yesterday to get some trimming strips and noticed they were completely out of ammo. They had some 22 target ($5.97 for 50) and some 22 (Aguila) for weeks before this but it is gone.

One note on Academy and Walmart. Both of them had limits in '12-'13 but it was different. The three box limit per calibre was there but if the boxes were over 100 rounds you could only buy one in that calibre.

For those of you shopping at the PX/BX, the one here has implemented a limit of two boxes per calibre. Has anyone checked the Rod and Bottle or the PX at Fort Hood? I want to check it out but since I have NEVER set foot there (neither before, during, or after, my 20 years in the Army) I want to make certain it is worth it.

I agree too. The prices are up everywhere but Academy has gone up reasonably. I’ve been in several ammo lines outside Academy these past few months, with mixed results. When I’m lucky, I’ve scored 500 round boxes of 9mm for $125 (last week). Other times it’s been ‘nada’ after waiting over 2 hours. Tough times for sure.

I will stop by the ammo isle if I happen to be at academy, but I am not going to wait in line for hours enduring the unwiped ass smell of the Rascal Brigade to maybe get something I already have a shit ton of.
At this point I don’t really care if I get ammo at a local store or online. If it happens, great, but I am in pretty good shape to keep the skill set sharp for the next several years.

Same here. If I find it I’ll buy a little. But I’m not waiting around for hours.

    Gunz are icky.
I've been in three Academy stores in the last couple of days. Mainly just snooping to see what is available.
Oddly all three had CCI .22 Short. And plenty of it.
One store even had Glock pistols.
    Fudd ammo is GONE. LoL

Academy Sports in Texarkana had some Hornady 38 Special +P today. That was a surprise because as far as I know, they do not get any shipments in that store on Saturdays. I guess it came in yesterday and did not sell out. At about $17.99 per box of 25, it's a steal at today's prices; it's $69.95 per box of 25 rounds at Alamo Ammo and the same at ExAmmo where the price is supposedly a marked down sale price.

Forgot to mention, Academy Texarkana also had 7.62x39mm in 40 round boxes, again surprising for a Saturday. They had a few other rifle calibers, mostly stuff that has been there for weeks not selling like 450 Bushmaster.

    To ALL,

As I'm gathering up". 38 SUPER JHP to "export to Europe", when we move OCONUS, IF anyone finds a "goodly pile" PLEASE PM me.
(I would buy a THOUSAND rounds of .38 SUPER JHP, which for me would be a lifetime supply, if I could find that much.)

    yours, satx

GrabAGun (they do have a store in Coppell) has Fiocchi 32ACP back in stock as of yesterday. $21.99 a box and while not the normal price I've paid, it's just a slight increase in price.

    Hoji,

I had found that FMJ .38 SUPER already, - I may buy it for practice ammo & then reload it with JHP.
(ABSENT uniformed combat where expanding bullets are UNLAWFUL, I see/have little use for FMJ other than "punching paper".)

All the same stuff in the McKinney store today as well. There were some 300 bo rounds, but not what I'm wanting.

I am also a fan of the .38 Super, I started shooting in the late '70's when I found a well ecpereinced Colt Gov't model at then Dallas Gun Show for $125.00 and the guy thru in a box of Rem 130 FMJ ammo
even though few people outside of IPSC shooters shoot this caliber, it has always been one of my favorites
I bought 1000 rounds of Rem FMJ about 2 years ago and reload them with a 124 gr coated cast bullet

I currently only own two supers, a Colt Combat Commander and a stainless Government model

my local Ace hardware store has always carried a good supply of handgun ammo, they currently have one box of .32 ACP & two boxes of .460 S&W and that's it
for rifle, they had a couple boxes of .444 Marlin, .25-06, .30 Remington and a few others, no common rifle ammo at all

Went to a small shop today. They do not sell firearms, at least I saw none. Anyway only thing on the shelf was 220 swifty, 8x something, 6mm rem and some shotgun shells. The old guy said he keeps ordering, and the supplier keeps saying not available
