What can we, as gun owners, advocate for to decrease gun violence in the Us

Funny story and I think I posted about this when it happened. I get moved to Texas and looking at my forwarded mail. I see Linn county in Oregon sent me a jury notice far far faaar after it’s been established with the Oregon dmv I moved, turned in my chl, and being a Texas resident. So some time passed. I call the guy...so I can’t attend. Oh why? I’m a Texas resident lol. Conversation goes from there and I’m getting no answers as to why this type of glitch happens.

It is in the rise and more and more novice gun owners are armed. Most gun owners only say what cannot be done to reduce gun violence. I say it is time we begin talking about what can be done to try to prevent these shootings. I am not talking about repealing 2A.

What are practical ideas that might save lives.

One idea I have is to try people for manslaughter if they failed to control access to their guns and someone in their household, or a guest got hold of one and shot someone, even accidentally. Especially if the shooter or shootee was a child. No excuse for that to happen in my book.

There is no gun problem, there is a people problem. Back in my day, there were fewer laws and we could have rifles in our trucks at school, yet there were hardly any school/mass shootings. Why? Because folk back then actually respected each other. Now, this country is filled with whinny little cunts, that expect shit to be handed to them, they are not held accountable for their actions, Lord forbid one gets punished for doing wrong, they have no remorse for any wrong doing and they have turned their back on God. This is why we have these problems now, this Nation is filled with mental illness and mindlessness. But oh no's, let's not blame the person, let's blame an object, it could hurt one's feelings. Prayer and a good spanking would solve the majority of issues.

It happens because one department doesn't inform the other. Many places, jury summons are based on voter rolls. Bet you are still registered to vote in Oregon.

Neither have I , and I have never been seated on a jury( except for traffic court in mustang ridge)
Fact is though, most of the folks I have seen at JD are actively and creatively trying to get out of it. I have seen police officers come to a jury duty summons in uniform. Why would you do that unles it is to be struck early.
The folks that tend to get seated quite often have no business sitting on a jury.

I can't totally disagree with that either. I have never sat on a jury, but have been called quite a few times.

Yes, there are many, that should probably never be anywhere near a jury pool!

But what other options do we have? And I agree with your sentiment that it should not be left only in the hands of the government to dole out justice. So picking a jury for the citizens of the community may not be perfect, but IMO, it's our best option available.

More laws aren’t the answer. There’s already over 20k gun related laws on the books.

Education is the best way.

I’m not convinced that “gun violence” is any worse now that any other time in history. We just have better (debatable) and faster access to nationwide news.
