A classic liberal would fit in fine around here. We might disagree but we'd respectfully educate each other.

Leftists who think all conservatives are crazy just because they're conservative will have a problem. So will people who "just want to watch the world burn."

I haven't done any gaming in a long time but there used to be a thing called "griefers." They'd work to become part of a community, be very helpful, take on responsibilities, etc. They'd earn everyone's respect and trust. But it was all a ruse. At some crucial point in a giant this-means-everything battle, they'd turn on their own team and kill everyone they could, ensuring the destruction of their entire clan.

Mods must constantly be on the lookout for potential griefers. Folks will come in and play nice, ask good questions, participate, etc. until one day they decide to just start flinging crap all over everything. It's happened here before. Personally, I'd rather see a ban happen a little early as opposed to letting someone run rampant because they spent a while earning our collective trust.

After the ban, I did some research. It appears to me that the OP had started his transformation into griefer mode.

That makes zero sense someone would do that but I’m also selective who gets my trust because I have been burned. I also think the tgt community is strong. I’ve made some of the best friends of my life here.

Well I don’t play video games or do I understand someone’s desire to befriend someone just to stab em in the back, if you feel he needed to go I trust that. All that really needs said.

I had never heard of a "Griefer", but I've seen that kind of behavior in a lot of different communities.

It happens often with volunteers in charity work. A gung-ho individual rises through the ranks, gains inside info along the way, gets upset because they are not in-charge and does everything they can, using inside information, to destroy anything and everything they can. They cause havoc, make public accusations, & destroy reputations with zero regard for the original intent of the charity or the good things achieved by that organization.
Then, they just walk away.

It is in the rise and more and more novice gun owners are armed. Most gun owners only say what cannot be done to reduce gun violence. I say it is time we begin talking about what can be done to try to prevent these shootings. I am not talking about repealing 2A.

What are practical ideas that might save lives.

One idea I have is to try people for manslaughter if they failed to control access to their guns and someone in their household, or a guest got hold of one and shot someone, even accidentally. Especially if the shooter or shootee was a child. No excuse for that to happen in my book.

Accidents and crime committed with guns are two totally different things.

Firearms accidents are tragic. But in this life of limited time and resources, one must prioritize. There are far bigger problems killing far more people.

As some have mentioned enough laws are on the books.

So a guy moved to Alaska and was told there's two things you must do when moving to Alaska. 1, drink a gallon of whisky and fight a grizzly with a knife. 2, find a nice Eskimo lady to sleep with. So the guy finally comes back after missing for three days. Covered in claw marks and confused. Says: "ok, where's the Eskimo lady I gotta fight"?

I agree. Opposing viewpoints can be different than those many of us have, without being communist or socialist in ideology.

What can we advocate for?

More prison space.

Mandatory minimum penitentiary time for any use of a gun in the commission of a crime. Whether a shot was fired or not; whether a “toy” gun was used or a real gun. That would lead to a direct decrease in “gun violence”.

While the OP is banned there is something we honest law-abiding people can do to stop gun violence is quit using the term and correct those who do. When anybody says "gun violence," interrupt them and say "You mean people violence." then explain that guns have never gone off or killed anyone without human intervention. Don't take their made up politics of fear. Fight back. Shoot your mouth off at them!

Long ago I spent a good portion of my time online trolling. Every bit of his posts indicated an attempt to troll and stir up trouble while playing as an innocent alternate view.

While there can be all the comparisons in the world to Twitter, FB, or anything else, TGT is not billed or advertised as a “free speech platform”. It’s purpose is to allow gun owners and the gun community to come together and discuss gun related topics as well as learn. This guy did not fit that category and was detrimental to the purpose of TGT.

We have plenty of disagreements here among our members on everything from guns to politics. We have people who may agree with some things this guy was saying. The difference is that they actually show themselves to be part of our community and simply have differing views. This guy was obviously not part of that community, showed no signs of being so, and posted things out of nowhere that were almost following a formula to stir up shit. I see no reason to put those 2 types of people in to the same category.
