Finished trimming a qt container of 38spec brass last night after getting home from turkey at stepson's house. Womens were watching chick flicks so I was in the shed.

Powder coated 400 40cal bullets today and primed 600 40 cal brass. Getting ready to load up some rounds.

I also invested in some alpha brass for my 7mm. I've never used them before but they came highly recommended. Anyone ever used them before?

I'm still on my first batch of Alpha in my 6mm Creedmoor.
I measured and weighed every way to Sunday when they came in.
I found them to be essentially identical across the spectrum.
I just primed them and loaded them.
I've got about 12 rounds left from the 1st loading.
Haven't worked any of the brass yet.

    I'll report when I do.

    ETA. Accuracy is very good.
Head stamps are very legible and extremely consistent as well.
Primer pocket tension was as well.

That's great. Sounds like I picked the right stuff

I think it's worth the price.
I'll know for sure after the 2nd resizing.
Well I was holding out for Peterson brass but when I reached out to them they basically said they weren't going to be making 7-08 brass for a while. Alpha seems to be about the same price range. Couldn't find Lapua or Norma either.

    I'm intrigued now.
    Tomorrow's forecast ain't pretty.
I think I'll work some of the once fired brass.

Resized 80 of the Alpha once fired and 22 of the Hornady twice fired.
Only discernible difference was the neck sizing area.
The Alpha went much smoother. I'm crediting that to times fired and the Hornady hasn't been annealed, which Alpha does prior to shipping.
Like I said, I'll know more about real differences another loading or two.

Also forgot to mention, the Alpha is small primer, where the factory ammo is large primer.
Theory being, more brass on the case head prevents loosening of the primer pocket.
Peterson offers this as well. Alpha does one better by making the flash hole remain at large primer dimensions. This alleviates decapping pin issues.

Last two days I ran two tumblers full of 40 and one of 9mm. In this session I seemed to have mixed the two calibers with a smattering of 45 thrown in. I took the time to correct things so I should be good to go now.

Hoping to have some time with my grandson over Crimbus break.

I will always remember the first time I tumbled brass. I was a new rookie reloader with a small amount of mixed brass. Tumbled them all together.

I don't think there was a single case that didnt have another case stuck inside of it.

Loaded 200x 40cal last night and wanted to clean them up a little. They rode the tumbler for about 12 hours but man do they look pretty

Someone on here recommend the timers people use for Christmas lights.

It's Christmas again so time to go buy one dedicated to my tumbler.

Bought this. Not sure if it’s worth a damn or not, but it’s another reloading toy I couldn’t do without!
