I have won several very nice pistols for a whole lot less than what they were worth due to poor pictures and very short/incomplete descriptions. It takes a little practice to pick out some of those hidden gems on gunbroker. Congratulations.

Looks like I acquired one of those elusive unfired Beretta 81 Cheetah .32 ACP pistols that came in as surplus from Italy not too long ago. The bluing on this pistol is nearly perfect, the internal parts look new, and looking down the barrel there are no signs that any rounds have been loaded into it and fired. The original plastic grips were also in new condition but I replaced them with some new Pachmayr rubber grips which made the already good ergonomics of this pistol even better. Date code on it indicates it was made in 1993. The only down side is that it only has a manual safety with no decocker like some of the other Cheetah pistols but I am still happy to add it to my Beretta collection. Personally I think that the Beretta 81 Cheetah is the best .32 ACP pistol that one can get.

I got my Beretta 81 from Classic Firearms on Friday. I am not happy with it. I wasn't even going to mention it. But, I think I'm over my temper tantrum now.

There is some minor pitting. But, the big thing is that I can barely rack the slide. That was the one thing that I had worried about with the 81. I can rack it. But, it takes several tries, and it hurts my hands sometimes.

But, like I said, I think I'm mostly past my temper tantrum. So, I'll go to the range with it and see how I feel about it then.

I've bought 3 firearms from classic. I even payed the extra fee for hand select whatever. I wasnt happy with any of them. I eventually found the same firearms up for sale locally that were in great condition. I wont buy from them again.

Having a stiff recoil spring is common on all the Beretta Cheetah pistols. I have several of them myself including the Model 81 that I just got. It's particularly stiff when you put in a new recoil spring. Unfortunately that is to be expected with this line of pistols.

I don't know how or when it became OK to sell used firearms without seeing or knowing its specific condition. It's like calling up a car dealership and buying a used car over the phone without even checking it out. Totally ridiculous in my opinion. There are FFL's that will take the time to post specific pictures of each used firearm they are selling on gunbroker. That is the only way that I would buy any used firearm online. Sometimes I even ask for extra pictures if they don't show everything that I want to see.

I don't intend to do it again. I just got caught up in all the videos of people who had bought their Beretta 81's at Classic. They all seemed so happy.

You're right. I should have known better.
