    Well this was exciting... While helping a friend change the oil in her Lotus for the first time, we encountered the most stuck oil filter I've ever seen. The strap wrench just crushed the body of the filter, and the first screw driver I drove through it just broke.

    Solid idea using a needle nose as a pin wrench.
    I've always called them spanners, and the only one I have is too small for that. I'm going to make a more sturdy one just in case this ever comes up again.
    I've had a few like that in my lifetime and it was always the first oil change with the factory filter.
    They put them on dry.
