Yearly oil change. Didn’t even put 5k on her this year. That’s sad and I will do better next year. You can see so much engine!

Got my tires rotated a week ago after submitting my fingerprints to identogo. Free rotations for the life of the tires through NTB is nice enough. And this time they didn't bring out a fake air filter that I don't need to pay someone to change, so there's that!

Not sure if I put this up or not. I finished up an install on my 2012 suburban.

I fitted a second battery in the stock tray and replaced both with Walmart AGM batteries. Long back story on being a fan of the batteries from Walmart. Basically 24hr replacement at any store in the USA. The AGM batteries have a 4 year coverage. No receipt required (uses date code on battery).

Currently they are wired with no isolator, just a second battery off the alternator. Mind you I have no additional load wired anywhere in the car. Eventually I will wire in a isolator with a low voltage cutoff on one of them. That way of it runs dead it will cut off one battery leaving it charged enough to start.

I topped off the washer fluid and put in a soap additive.

Kicked all 4 tires and thought about getting it in the shop. I have noted a slight clunk noise on slow speed left turns. It could also use a new drive belt.

This is mommas kid and baseball gear hauler. She loves it.

Lots of boats are setup similarly, or with a mechanical isolator.

Got started on a project for a guy... I told him the car wasn't worth it, but it has sentimental value. It's actually not that bad. Not going for a full restoration. He just wants to be able to safely drive it.

That should be fun. I have worked on a couple handful of 70's and 80's Mercedes. Some of the work can get rough having to dig up old factory manuals and parts catalog. Alot of our remaining documentation from from back then is crappy scans of old microfiche. It doesn't flow the same in a PDF.

I have a reproduction of the factory manual as well as all the aftermarket manuals, so good to go there. Mechanical parts are readily available, too. The main problem with these is typically fixing other people's "repairs", and dealing with the consequences of poor maintenance.

Decided to do a diesel carbon buildup cleaning and maybe forget to put on a few emissions to prevent future carbon. Got the intake off tonight. Sending it out to be ultrasonic cleaned. I’m going to walnut blast the head myself. Exhaust system is still being built so the DPF and SCR will remain for at least another week or so. I’ll post pics as I go along.

    Very nice looking truck.
Thanks. I inherited it. It was my Grandpas old hay truck. It sat for 2 years under a tree before I had it towed to me. It has been a non stop work in progress, but it's starting to be a pretty solid truck again. Sounds like a learjet at idle with the 4 inch straight pipe and Garrett turbo. New clock spring will be going in tomorrow. I'm nervous because I hate messing with airbags.
