Why are they so fing hard to find?

I went to Academy asking for 3" Magnum slugs but they had none.

They had a bunch of 3 1/2" Magnum shells though...??

I called some local gun shops and none even really carried anything other than 2 3/4" shells...

I've played with some 3in buck and bird, but prefer the 2 3/4 because I can load them a hair faster. I went to the local shop and found a handful of different 3in slugs though, so I thought i'd grab a few for fun.
    Winchester Rack Master 1 1/8 oz 1700fps
    Winchester X123RS15 Rifled 1 oz 1760fps
    Hevi-Shot Sabot 1 1/4 oz 1500fps
    Winchester XRS12 Sabot 1 oz 1350fps (this is 2 3/4)

For slugs I stock Win X12RS15VP 1oz 1600fps. They are rifled & hollow point and come 15 per box, I have a few. :p

I found some nasty 3" Remington solid copper Sabot Slugs - at both Outdoor World/Bass Pro Shops, & Sportsman's Warehouse today.

    Nasty looking rounds:

Hate to be on the receiving end of one of those devils...

I also picked up some Winchester 3" Mag rifled 1oz slugs, they had 'em at both places, too.

There were a few other kinds available, OW/BPS had the same Sabot Slugs in Winchester, but I think they were more expensive, and didn't have this handy little $5/box rebate (which expires today.)

***EDIT*** Glad I read the fine print on that rebate form - it was for Canada only... Try This link if you live in the USA (and being that this is the "Texas Gun Talk" forums, I'd say it's a safe bet.)
