Thats what i was thinking. It looks like a planner blade for scrapping wood.
Ergonomics seem wrong for this use;
Same type of grip, but rotate the blade down 90deg and try it out deboning a roast.
The top of the blade has beveled holes where it looks like screws would go & set flush. And the square pocket looks like it is part of where the tool would secure the blade & let it slide up or down to adjust the depth.

In all fairness to her I did have one of the large kitchen drawers so full that if they weren’t stacked correctly it wouldn’t close. 60+ cleavers to pearing knives and multiples of everything in between. I’m mostly irritated about the loss of the ‘70’s era Case butchers and carvers.
Also reminds me of a clipper blade but flat, instead of slotted to cut hair.
