I do not have a designated nightstand gun. I simply remove my carry gun and put it on the nightstand at bedtime.
My designated bedside flashlight is a Surefire 9P with 120 lumen bulb.

Taurus PT-92 with light/laser and a Maverick 88 with a few toys. 18 rds of Hydrashok and 6 rds of 00 buck within 2ft. help me sleep at night.:D

I'm really considering slapping a NV scope on my HiPoint and using that.

    I sleep near the safe

When I get home in the evening I open the safe and put the STI ranger away, unloaded. I proceed to load the HK USP45CT, with M6X laser/light and Gemtech Blackside hanging on the end. I do not want to loose my hearing in any after dark scenario.

The thing is not silent by any stretch but it will allow communication with others in the house if someone puts my family in a situation with no alternative. The phone is next to the nightstand where the wife will be calling 911.

Ruger P-95 w/15 round mag by bed....Rock Island Tactical .45acp hidden in hallway...last chance gun is a Jennings J-22 hidden on a shelf in dining room. Well, then there's the Bikal Bounty Hunter 12 ga Dbl BBl leanin' in the corner of the living room.
I read where Wyatt Earp had guns hidden all around Dodge City in case he needed them!
