    19.97 MPG last trip.

    As Jerry Clower said, 'jest joog the button, it'll hold 55'. However mine gets jooged at 70.

    Have been pondering a Gold Wing. (I'm a pretty big feller).

    I put over a hundred miles a day on the Prius, its up to almost 200K. I smile evertime I pass you guys sitting in your gas guzzlers at the gas stations. :p

    Yeah, but you can buy a lot of gas for the $3,000 it's going to cost when the batteries die. And at 200K, you might be getting close.

    I'd get something smaller, but I can't fit 3 child car seats into the back of most of the small cars.

    To my understanding, the portion of the initial price is to cover the replacement of the batteries. The warranty covers it due to Government regulations with hybrids.

    Toyota Corolla 34/28

    Jeep Wrangler 4.0 about 17

    Harley XL1200C about 50 mpg UPDATE 11-25........ 42.4 MPG overall. Edit update 12-7-11. I rode to Beaumont and back at 60-70 MPH and the Harley got 38.9 MPG. Switched to reserve at 107 miles.

    Only three? Hell, I gotta get some more wheels!
    ================================================
    Regarding Hybrids....

    The Corolla cost $16K and gets 34 mpg. It is a 4 cylinder with variable valve timing and fuel injected. The little car is FAST and you'll be hitting 80+ if you don't keep it reined in. Spending 2 1/2 times more $ to get a hybrid at just over 40 mpg spells "Dumb" to me even overlooking the battery issues.
    ===========================================

    Regarding gas prices............

    There is only one thing keeping gas prices below the seasonal winter low. Obama got sick of being hammered for our economic troubles and dipped into our strategic oil reserves. That dropped the prices still lower. We can expect $4/gallon soon. Collectively, we are just another poor schmuck standing in the world line for petroleum. Our gasoline price has always been lower than England or Europe but now it's a world market and oil companies have no allegiance to the US. BP doesn't stand for "Boston Petroleum!" We were sold out long ago.

    2005 Mazda RX8 - 17/20
    1975 Fiat Spider - 27-ish... Kinda hard to measure since the odometer doesn't work

    I used to have a 1981 Fiat Strada that got 40mpg highway. It was a POS, too... Actually traded a guy some deer meat and $1 to make it a legal sale. It was rusted through in several spots, but surprisingly mechanically sound. I took the engine out of the Strada and put it in an X1/9. The X got around 27mpg. Aerodynamics and tire size matters quite a bit, lol...

    2nd best mpg car I had was a $500 '93 VW Jetta. It would very consistently get 35mpg. Damn that thing was a piece of crap, tho... It got me from point A to B and sometimes C, tho. The only reason I bought it was because both my other cars at the time needed work and I didn't want to be out of transportation. I should have kept it for the mpg!

    I average 13.86 mpg when I divide my 208 miles per tank (average) by the 15 gallons that my tank apparently holds (though the gas station fuel pump always fills to 13.5 gallons when the low fuel light comes on). Must mean I still have 1.5 gallons left... Then again I do 90% city driving almost every day since I am a delivery guy driving a V8 mustang with 4.10 gears... FML I need a civic.
