I love dogs, but I've never wanted a large breed. GSDs are great, but just too big for my tastes. We've got three dachshunds--two of them are doxie/chihuahua mix--and they're perfect for our needs/preferences. Growing up, I've been around Boston Terriers, mini Schnauzers, and Cocker Spaniels. It'll be doxies from here on down the line for us.

He’s set on what he’s set on for his own reasons. He’s done lots of research and knows what he wants. He’s not asking me. He’s attracted to their amazing capacity to be smart and guard and lunge like an amazing rocket and zoom in there to protect. I’m sure I’ll have to just deal with it, it’s not really my call.

We rent a home, and so we do have a yard. We may have a home someday with a bigger yard.

We aren’t getting such a dog yet.

I've had considerable experience with the Belgians, while a MP & using them as patrol dogs. - Before I spent 10 cents on one, I would be SURE to get a complete workup by a vet, as a LOT of the Belgians have physical problems these days, including HIP DISPLASIA.
