    To All,

It depends on what federal property that you're talking about. - The last Army post where I was the PM, we allowed rifles PART of the year & shotguns the rest of the year.
Crossbows & longbows >50# were legal for hunting all year.

At Camp Bullis here in Bexar County, HP Rifles for deer season only & crossbow/longbow/shotgun/.22RF the rest of the year for hunting hogs/exotics/small game.

My favorite hog rifle is my old Model 760 in .300 Savage loaded with 180 grain GC cast bullets, as it has sufficient power & fast 2nd -5th shots.
Otherwise, I use my old Horton Yukon 150# crossbow with 3-blade broad-heads.

    yours, satx

I use 150Gr Hornady SST in the 16 inch 308 AR-10, and the 180 SST out of the 300WM and the 20 inch AR-10. I have shot a bunch of pigs, and stopped using a 5.56 since shots at night don't give the best shot placement, and that is critical with the 5.56 unless you can keep hitting them. The SST bullets never exit, and are devastating to the internals.

Used a 30-.06 with 150gr soft-points in other states, WAY too much gun for the 100-150lbers we were taking. Kinda like swatting a fly with an axe.

I'm looking forward to trying some new .223 workups with TAC and a 75gr Hornady match bullet.

10mm JHPs are also very effective.
