Best I'm seeing online for .308 is about 70 cents a round. Not sure what's considered good anymore (and I'm sitting on 1100 rounds: 800 .308 in sealed PPU battle packs and 300 7.62x51 including a 200-round Radway Green battle pack).

I've been paying $14.95 for the PPU 168 grain now and before Sandy Hook. But I also have been paying around $12 (sometime better, depends on vendor) for the 148 grain PPU. So that's between .60 and .75 cents a round, and that's been like that for a few years now.

The surplus ammo is all over the place and it isn't cheap anymore. I've stopped buying it since it is no longer the value it use to be. But I will say, that Radway is good stuff. I was buying in the 75 round packs for $30 or $40 and now when I see them, they are starting at $80 for those same packs.

No, just looking for more and browsing. Had to buy more 9mm recently so started looking at other calibers. I track my ammo purchase prices on my iPad, so was looking back a few years and sighing.

Since I don't reload yet, freedom munitions has been the best deal, especially with their mixed brass credit program.

Sgammo usually has the Prvi for .60 a round delivered (.58 a round delivered for 1000) although they are out of stock right now:

Prvi Partizan .308 FMJ 145grn 20rd White Box

AIM Surplus has it as well for .60 a round before shipping but they are out right now as well. Price drops to .5475 a round before shipping if you buy 1000.

I have bought both of these in the last month and they seem to get them in (and then sell them out) pretty regularly.

Good find. Okay, I'll be on the lookout for sub-.50 deals, then, and I'm not insane for considering .60 normal for range quality ammo.
Define "range quality" if the ammo I am shooting from a rifle does not group at 1" or less, the bullets get pulled and I load up a "range quality" round that will.

Not match-grade. I don't need sub-MOA accuracy to work on my mechanics. I also don't hand-load. Both of the prior: yet. :)

Cabela's has steel cased for .55. Otherwise, about .60 a round seems to be the cheapest. GunBot 308 rifle ammo

    Good link, thanks!

Great find! $318.99 shipped, beats the $375 I can get this for locally. Makes it about $.64/round all in.

Lax AMMO has 308 at 37 cents a round.

Link? I can't find anything priced like that on their site.

Edit: You must be talking about the steel-cased TULA, berdan-primed, bi-metal.

    https://www.laxammo.com/ammunition/.308-ammo/tulammo-308-win-150-gr-fmj-"steel-case"-20-rds/28-1000

I picked up some Federal NATO 7.62mm x 51 Rifle Ammunition 7.62mm x 51 149 gr FMJ 1000/Box for $.42/rd from Natchez, shipped, which is probably the same price as LAXAmmo w/shipping and it's new LC brass, boxer-primed.
