My first thought would be for something in a .45LC, but it would be more interesting if it pissed the progressives off.... Like a Barrett .50 BMG born in Houston, used around the world. The rifle as big as Texas!

I want to say and STI 1911. Not a 1911 fanboy but it seems to fit Texas.

I guess since 1911 is already taken the Barrett would be a good fit. Didn't know they were born in Houston though, thought Barrett was located somewhere up north.

    Or maybe this.

And what purpose does an "official state firearm" serve? Nothing wrong with it but seems to me some folks got too much time on their hands and are looking for something to do!

Same as the state tree, state animal, state bird, and state song.

Barrett headquarters is in Tennessee. Now if Barrett built/designed in Houston or Texas at one point, I'm not sure.
