    Define long range.

That's not exactly a shotguns job. You can get relative range out of slugs or.the right choke and load but you're not talking over 50 to 70 yards, in rare instances with the exception of slugs. With the proper slug and barrel and practice you can get farther as there are still states that limit some larger game hunting to slugs. 125 maybe 150 yards. Again pushing it.

Most shot 50 yards is pushing it for most folks and some, depending on the set up, 25 yards is the limit of practical accuracy and your starting to get into chance.

Long Range and shotguns, not their job.
Shot spreads and loses energy quickly.

im curious ' simply because im gonna buy 1 later and im not so filmar with great shotguns.
a rifle is good for long range, the most you can get with a shotgun assuming it has a rifled bore or its using rifled slugs is probably 100 meters, if that.

Watch the whole thing. Clint has a great demo of how the average shotgun pattern grows at distance.

    Then watch this

Then for good measure watch this:

Then if you want a shotgun for long range applications, get an old Remington 870, or a Mossberg 500/590 with a rifled slug barrel on it, put whatever optic or iron sights on it that you work best with, and know the limitations of your gun and ammunition choice.

Shotguns aren't ideal long-range weapons but out to 100-125 yards they can be effective.
