    1) First 1911 was a commercial Colt in .38 Super. Paid $50 for it in 1959. Later traded it for a Ruger .357 Mag revolver.

    2) Most memorable 1911 was a commercial Colt in .45 ACP accurized by Al Dinan with a BoMar Low Profile rib on it. Used it in Bullseye competition during late '60s and early '70s. Stupidly sold it when I quit competing. BAD DECISION!!!!!!!!!

    3) Favorite 1911 is my Wilson Classic .45 ACP with stainless frame, black ArmorTuff slide, S&A magwell, adjustable sights, and Esmeralda grips.

Kimber Custom II, it was a good pistol, looked pretty sharp with some Wilson goodies on it.

Depending on how the next few months go, I'll be buying an STI.

    Alan,
Thought you were going to have surgery today and be out for several days. Are you SuperMan or did the surgery get postponed?

First one was my Kimber Custom TLE II in 2002(?). I have two other 1911's in addition to the Kimber now, but the TLE is still my favorite after thousands of rounds through it. The most accurate and best-shooting pistol I have ever owned in 35+ years of shooting.

My first 1911 was given to my by my dad and granddad. It was the 1911 that granddad carried in WWI, Dad carried in WWII and I in Vietnam. I was 11 when it was given to me.

The first one I qualified with in the Army. They were getting rid of them and I asked the armorer if he could just "lose" one. Man I hated returning that one!

Glad all of you came back safely. Wish that no one else would ever have to carry it in combat.

That's a family treasure for sure.

Post a picture of it :)

    Amen Brother!!

My first was my dads old Colt from WW2. When you shook it it sounded like a Mexican Maraca. It shot enything you could load in the mag.

I have had a dozen since then and my favoirite is my Wilson Combat Professional. The Professional is a 4" gun and mine is stainless. It is my primary carry weapon.

    NightHawk

    I handled my son's Colt 1911.

I liked the feel and the way it handled.

And I went out and bought a NightHawk.

I liked it so much, I bought three more.....:D:D:D:D

Colt Series 70 Gold Cup that I bought "used" for $200 in 1976. The guy had put less than a box of shells through it. Of course, he had already thrown away the box and papers. :(

I still have it. I've replaced the rear sight pin twice and just replaced the Eliason rear sight with a new one. Things do wear out.
