I've shot my spicy 40S&W 180gr loads to over 1,150fps which are surprisingly stout. I shoot that same projectile at just over 1,300fps in my 10mms. The difference is notable, but quite manageable and fun. They really ring the gongs at 75m; so much enjoyment shooting both calibers out of my M610. My XDM-10 feels about the same as the G20 which I've shot in the past.

    I'm a big fan of the .40
More or less the same oomph as a .45 but can be double stacked reasonably.
    Recoil not all that bad.
My carry is a mini Glock in .40

Ive never shot 10mm and curious how it compares to 40S&W. I like shooting the 40 in my Glocks. Would like to try out a Glock in 10mm sometime.
Prepare to be unimpressed. The 10mm is a tad hotter at full power levels but it really isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I've heard rumblings that the 40S&W is going extinct. Could that be the explanation?

Honestly, I don't really see that happening. It's never been as popular as 9mm or 45, but it's always been fairly popular for many people.

Last 9mm ammo shortage some years ago, it got somewhat popular because 9mm shortage. Lot's of people were buying 40 pistols and ammo because they were more available on the market.

Sig 10mm is where it’s at for mainstream factory ammo. 180gr slug running at 1250 is pretty stout. It’s not quite big bore magnum level but you know it’s there.

    TO ALL,

LOOK for pistols in .40S&W & the ammo to DISAPPEAR from the USA store shelves rather soon, as that it a caliber that is LEGAL in foreign nations where .45ACP & 9x19mm (AND some other so-called "weapons of war") are UNLAWFUL for anyone but the military to possess.
(That is WHY that the .38 SUPER is so popular in Latin America.)

Guess I better stock up on both then.
