Hopefully this is not a dumb question. I'm going to make a SBR. Can/should I get it engraved while waiting for the approval? Of course, I won't make until I have papers.

    Out here by the lake!
I'm turning an H&K SP-89 into a MP5Kn. I sent it to RTDS to do the work. They engraved mine before sending off the paperwork. I have now wait for them first to get approval before it can approved to be sent to my dealer who inturn needs me to get approval.

So, if I'm building, I might as well get the receiver engraved at the same time.

I can file direct with the ATF, right? No need to go through anyone?
