I would gather a guess, that all of us here are gun owners of some sort, or why would we be here??

No matter your political or religious beliefs, the current state of affairs in our country is at an all time low with discourse in our nation. Is it as bad as it was in 1863 prior to the civil war? Was it as bad as it was in 1775/6 when we told England to GTFO? Maybe. That’s all a matter of opinion.

But in the next 4 years, gun rights are only going to get worse, not better. We might have a few wins in the next 4 years with a few current cases in our court systems. But unless a few of those turn into major wins at the Supreme Court Level, things are soon to take a big dive.

So I ask, what is your line in the sand? When will enough be enough and you will put your lives on the the line to stop the tyranny? This is a rhetorical question. Meant for you to think about for yourself. You don’t have to reveal your answer here in this thread.

For each of us, for each individual gun owner out there that answer will be different. There will be some that will gladly give up their guns and walk away even if they repeal the 2A and ban all guns and come door to door to confiscate them. There will be many more of us who won’t, because they will have crossed that line long before that happens.

There is a point where I will say enough is enough, and will be willing to join forces and put my life on the line for civil war / revolution. My great great great grandfather did in the revolutionary war in 1776. My great great grandfather did in the Texas Revolution in 1835/6 as well as in the Civil war in 1863.

So just think for yourself, where is that line in the sand for you? Or do you even have one?

No sane person wants or desires war, but we have to realize that sometimes it’s the only option if you don’t want to continue being oppressed.

Remember this above all else. Those who wish to oppress, will do so, and continue to do so until those who are being oppressed finally fight back. Remember why our founding fathers wrote the 2A in the first place!

You associate the Civil War with the year 1863...just curious, why?

Fort Sumter was fired on April 12, 1861.
Texas seceded February 1, 1861 (seventh state to do so).
First Battle of Bull Run was July 21, 1861.

Could be when great great g'father joined up? Not necessarily when the Civil war started?

OP: What’s your purpose for linking the original content and then pasting it in entirety with zero original thought added, especially considering there’s more than a couple threads here discussing the topic already?

The late historian Shelby Foote shared an account of a Civil War Rebel soldier who was asked: "Why are you fighting?"
    Answer:
    "Because you're down here!"

It's pretty obvious what his motivation was. There's not much difference in his era and 2020.

Not a problem; I wasn't being critical. Just thought maybe there was some historical "milestone" event you were measuring from...and curious what that may have been. Obviously the "mid-point" in the war did occur in 1863 - assuming dates of the traditional beginning (Ft. Sumter bombardment) and ending point (Lee's surrender at Appomattox Courthouse) are used.

As to your basic question: it's kinda like the old definition of pornography, to me. Not exactly sure where that line is, but I'll know it when I see it. And there are ways a single individual can change the course of history, in both small and large ways.

It was a high price to pay, but when Travis drew his line in the sand, he bought some much needed time for Gen Houston and the Republic. Best of luck to all patriots - we'll need it over the coming weeks.

It will probably involve something like the Boston Massacre. Something along the lines of the ATF (and the AG) trying to make headlines with a big raid instead of picking up the head of the group as he smoked a cigarette after eating breakfast at the local diner, the same time he did just about every day.

Since Colonel Travis of the Alamo was mentioned, lets put something into context, so it has meaning, and understanding of those men fighting at the Alamo.

They were offered an out to leave if they wanted to leave with the women and children. Those men stayed, because they believed in what they were fighting for, and every minute they held out against Santa Ana, bought Houston time to be prepared to battle Santa Ana on his terms. They were committed to the cause of Texas Independence and were willing to die for it.
