    Hi.....

Doing a new AR build. Originally, I was simply going to go with flat dark earth. Then I thought, mebbe something more exotic, like digital camo. If you could had a choice for the entire rifle, with matched grip and buttstock, would it be? I'm in central Texas, so I'm inclined to go with ACU. I see MARPAT D as more of a W Texas scheme and MARPAT W as an E Texas scheme.

Straight FDE. I was never a fan of any Marpat bullshit, and if the colors aren't at least 6" wide each they're just going to blend together at a distance anyway. That's a lot of work for what is essentially just going to be one color anyway.

since I live in EastTexas, Marpat W. Not a fan of FDE since I don't live anywhere near desert. Might as well paint it white. I do question the way it's shown in that image, seems like the pattern should be 2 or 3 times larger.

Depends on what yer gonna be wearing. No sense in hiding the rifle if you stick out like a sore thumb.

If your serious, you would be adding something from the surrounding terrain to brake up the pattern and make it blend in anyways.

Black bends in to shadows better and is less obvious if it doesn't quite match.

Other colors seem to be very terrain specific.

Black or FDE, no camo. That's just my opinion. Questions like "Which color scheme would you choose?" are always referred to my wife and/or daughters. No need for me to bother myself with it. Trust me, I know.:green:

I think MARPAT D is pretty cool looking, but if you're truly going for concealment, paint it to match the area and make sure your clothes match. My shotgun has a tan/black paintjob. Purely cosmetic.

None of the above. I guess I'm just a boring old fart but I prefer all black, partly because it's traditional, partly because it's visually simple and partly because (as others stated) it hides well in very dark areas.
