I’ve always kept all the boxes. Having recently packed up everything I own to move down here, it made me realize how many boxes I had. They still all got packed.

Unless it is a small box, I don't keep it. I have a couple of large plastic totes that I keep my gun stuff in. Paper work and such gets put in a envelope and labeled. Screws and additional parts get put in ziplock bags or small boxes, then labeled. This keeps all my stuff organized in a smaller, manageable area. I don't have much storage space available, so it's not feasible for me to keep every original box.

I would say I typically keep boxes for two reasons:
    1) Resale
    2) I love collecting stuff, which can actually be a bad habit in some cases.

If you don't have a lot of room, then I would definitely chuck it.

    Welcome to the forum.

You know there’s a fine line between collecting stuff and hoarding ....... just saying (I’m guilty of skirting that fine line)

Gun, scopes, binos, I keep the original boxes to everything. When I'm buying second hand, for some reason I like the fact they took the time to keep everything together as well

I keep mine as well- along with any paperwork (if any) I received. I have a couple of old boxes w/ receipts I inherited from my father where he purchased firearms from JCPenney and Sears back in the day.

Just wondering who keeps the boxes their firearms come in and why?

Do you discern between plastic or cardboard?

    Rifle or pistol?

If you lost them in a boating accident, do you still keep the boxes?

    Eotech or acog boxes?

I guess this question does not refer to ones you “plan” on reselling / collector’s items.

Where do you draw the line?
I never thought about keeping boxes. I've always thrown them away.

I keep them. There was a Mossberg shotgun box and a 10/22 box I think I got rid of just because they weren’t anything special and the long gun boxes are harder to store.

I keep mine for possible later private sale to go with the gun. It helps convince some buyers to pay more.
