A retired Marine stops a potential killing (they say potential mass shooting, but even if he just stopped a nutter from shooting *one* person, that's plenty heroic) by taking down a gun-waving nutjob *with his bare hands*

When police arrive to take the gun waving nutter into custody for his criminal actions, the retired Marine, thinking he's doing the right thing, informs the police that he's got a concealed handgun license and he's carrying. The problem? The incident happened in Maryland. The heroic Marine is from Virginia. NO reciprocity, and the cops are assholes who arrested the good guy right along with the bad guy. Now the good guy is facing charges and will likely lose his right to carry, even if its a misdemeanor.

Permits / licenses for a *right* are pure bullshit. If a driver license / ID is valid across state lines, then at the very least carry permits should be the same, but carry permits ARE an infringement against a God given, Constitutionally recognized right to begin with.

Marine should have kept his crayon eating mouth shut. LEOs are not your friend and he *should* have known reciprocity status.

Sometimes I wonder if people with military service - especially career military - get used to deferring to authority a bit too much? Not all, of course, but most vets, esp. lifers, don't see the government and their agents as antagonistic unless they had a...colorful...career and lots of run-ins with the law. I wonder if that played a part there?

And yes - he *should* know reciprocity, we don't know how long he's has his carry license, or if he knew he was breaking Maryland law or what. Maybe he knew, and thought that his actions of stopping the bad guy would garner favor and the cops would overlook the transgression.

How about just forcing them to honor our 2A ? Our SCotUS has been NEGLIGENT for hundreds of years in that area.

Is that adage you can't talk your way out of going to jail but you can talk your way into the crossbar hotel. Too bad for this veteran. He needs the right kind of lawyer will fight for him and the jury that will say not guilty. Jury nullification would be in order.

The problem here is that he probably knew he was carrying illegally in Maryland. I don’t agree with him being arrested but he was illegal. I hope he fights and wins but I am not optimistic. Reminds me of those 2 Texas women carrying in NYC arrested. You need to know the laws when you carry.

He was carrying a .22, in a holster?
Have you seen the size of the rats in those democrat cities? They grow pretty large. He should have at least stepped up to .22mag
