    I just picked it up a couple of days ago and have managed to shoot it a couple of times. I think the Weaver Challenger scope may need to be changed for one that actually adjusts.

    Of course, I also need to get to feeling better to do any sort of assessment on how well it shoots.

    I guess it would have been in order to note the production dates are 1938-1959 and the serial numbers don't help date it.

    If that scope is "period correct" I would have a hard time replacing it on that rifle. Very nice. I love my Winchester 72's.

    I'm back at LSU-Shreveport, trying to get a post-operation infection under control. The scope is an older El Paso variety, probably bought with the gun when they were both new.

    Good luck with your medical condition, hope it all works out quickly. And if I find out that you swapped that scope off of that rifle, I'll put you right back in the hospital! Just kidding...I'd have a REALLY hard time not leaving it just as it is.
