    how so??? guns passed down or bought from friends and/or family.......even legal FTF transactions have no 4473....thus are unknown....how are they going to track those?

    It’s all in how the law is written, but generally speaking they allow certain people, to include teachers, to petition the court, regardless of facts, to declare someone a danger to themselves or others, which triggers the court-ordered seizure of various types of weapons, not just firearms, which can be enforced through a search warrant.

    So, in the most egregious of these types of laws, the complaint doesn’t have to prove anything...they
    simply have to believe someone is a danger to themselves or others and tell a court, which then does the dirty work.

    Others require reporting to LE who must conduct an investigation to determine whether or not an order should be petitioned.
