Can't he return to the senate after he serves as president?

Personally, I'd put him on the SCOTUS. True constitutional conservative justices are hard to come by these days.

I voted for president because eventually America is going to catch on to the GOP's crap and start replacing them with actual conservative Republicans.

Good points. If he become the model for Republicans on the national level? Totally worth it.

Putting him on the SCOTUS, didn't even think of that. Would be excellent, but we don't have that choice and unless we get a real winner in the White House hardly anyone would nominate him and unless we get more control over Congress he wouldn't get through the nomination process.

Ha, I know right. I wouldn't want him to be president if he just got to DC and had a lousy congress and just had a stalemate for 8 years. I mean, don't get me wrong, if he fought congress, cut spending, made lasting changes, it might be worth it.

Why? obama has a lousy congress, but he still gets his shit passed.

(I'm not talking about executive orders. I mean legitimate legislation)

Exactly. it worked for obama. all the moderate democrats instantly became flamboyant liberals.

That's because we have a bunch of panty waist so called Republican conservatives in the House and Senate that go along with his crap.

I dont know how to vote on this one man. I love him in the Senate because he holds the other's feet to the fire and reminds them of the oath they took. He is just fearless. In the same breath I would love to see him lead this country as President. I am still debating which one. Of course I am all for term limits, so seeing anyone in either chamber for 20-30 years is something I dont agree with.

I'd rather have him in the senate. Senate & House of Reps is where bills are created & passed, not at the whitehouse.
The president only signs the legislation that's sent to him, he doesn't create it. Senator Cruz has far more influence in terms of legislation being a senator than being president.

Add edit: As a senator he also has the ability to stay in the senate and exert influence for a much longer time than as president. Presidents ? Two terms. Senator? Under the current status quo, unlimited.

Hands down as President, this is the thing about term limits even though they may start out good over time there is a beat down position that is taken. Jim DeMint got out because he knew there was nothing but stagnation in the Senate and felt like he could do more good in the private sector through Freedon Works. I am not knocking Cruz at all as he is my absolute favorite, however there is a time for you to serve and them a time to move on. If the Democrats and Republicans would join in on turning everyone over every time their term is up and had to go back into the real world and live by the laws that they passed then maybe just maybe things would start to turn around. The key to that is no lobbying ever once you are out of office. Period.

If history is a guide, Cruz is in danger of a big flame out. Senator Joseph McCarthy was smeared by the Democrat/socialist/communist left for his strong anti-communist stance. To this day school children are told that McCarthy was un-American.

McCarthy and Cruz were/are ideologues. They stood/stand by their values. For that they are hated.

McCarthy died of alcoholism fueled by his inability to break through the left's lies and deceits. The left is wound up and ready to pounce on Cruz for even the most minor infraction of leftist sensibilities.

Cruz needs a second term in the Senate, let him beat his opponents down, then he would be a good candidate for President.

At this point, Cruz seems like the Republican's and conservative's best bet for Prez. He definitely has the name recognition. And we know how he stands on the 2nd amendment.
