WTB: Commuter car

Looking for a cheaperish commuter car. Has to be street legal and no lemons!


We're looking to spend several grand. The car needs to last a year. With AC and a solid tranny. No big oil leakers and gets decent mpg.

If DH can get to work more shower fresh on a motorcycle, I probably don't want what you are selling

Car found. Jeep Cherokee to the rescue - going old school

We did. Found it online at a Jeep place (Just Jeeps) and drove over to check it out. Everything looked right, fluids smelled right, parts acted right, and it was priced right. It's a workhorse '96 Cherokee with 148k miles, all stock. We were told it was a minister's vehicle who traded to get his son a newer Jeep. Looking at the Carfax, it consistently ran approximately 8k miles per year since around '98. We bought it cash so we finally own something back here in the States

The 4door and rear cargo will be nice to have around the house. Makes it pretty easy to get the dog around. Should get reasonable mileage too.

We'll see how it goes!
