Does anyone in the Houston area have a couple of desks they dont want anymore? I am looking for one that is sturdy enough to make a gun maintenence table out of, and I am looking for another one that is solid wood and heavy to make a new loading bench out of, like an old office desk. They dont have to be pretty, but not firewood either.

I would recommend craigs list. There is a section there labeled free. i have found a couple of items i was looking for there.

If you know any property management company employees, that is a good lead. My management company offers us desks all the time. They warehouse a lot of property when they have to lock someone out for non-payment. They sell it off for almost nothing, sometimes they give it away. I've outfitted my office and home office for nearly free.
