It is not as though the ships have radar. Or the capability to plot and track ships' courses.

    Helotes!
Has the Navy forgotten how to dodge? Two of these this summer doesn't really make any sense.

    That's the fourth this year!

In addition to this incident, on June 17 the USS Fitzgerald collided with a container ship off the coast of Japan. That collision resulted in the deaths of seven US sailors.

On May 9, the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain was struck by a small fishing boat off the Korean Peninsula.

And in late January, the guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam ran aground while trying to anchor in Tokyo Bay. Authorities at Yokosuka Naval Base said the Antietam remains out of action.

Not a good time to be a SWO!

And the USS McCain is named for the senator's father and grandfather, both of whom were Navy admirals.

    Father and grandfather.

This warship is named after John S. McCain, Sr., and John S. McCain, Jr., both admirals in the United States Navy. John S. McCain, Sr. commanded the aircraft carrier USS Ranger, and later the Fast Carrier Task Force during the latter stages of World War II. John S. McCain, Jr. commanded the submarines USS Gunnel and USS Dentuda during World War II. He subsequently held a number of posts, rising to Commander-in-Chief of the United States Pacific Command, before retiring in 1972.

Actually the headline reads "Navy says cyber sabotage played 'no role' in USS John S. McCain incident"

Busily shipping lane, late at night. Crew was not paying attention on either vessel and two ships collided. It happens but likely won't happen again.
Did you read the article? Half way down they have cyber security people stating that something is going on.
