Guys with the ASE certifications have earned the right to be critical of them and I respect you for that. I also let mine expire and got it because I could not have my job without it. I don't need it now and will not renew it.

Back to the OP....It took longer to drag my tools out, hook up an extension cord and plug in my drop light than it took to install that belt on my driveway. NO, that's not worth $150! I acknowledged the role of a technician and praised the expertise required of a tech yet you guys get all weird like I'm attacking your profession. To quote myself:

"The bastards who design these cars should be required to work on them. The root of problem is that the engine/transaxle assemblies are pre-assembled then dropped into the car bodies, plugged in like a toaster then sent off to the consumer. The operating machinery was never designed to be worked on while residing IN the car. It is for the experienced Tech to figure out HOW to do an impossible job and they should be paid for that expertise."

This crap is getting tiresome....I'm gonna go watch TV.

Flash, the point yer missin' is that if you can do it yourself, do it. If not, don't expect it for some cheap price. Hell, I've got customers that pay me over a hundred dollars just to change out 3 10" water filters! I've offered to show 'em how to do it, but they don't want to.

It's not worth $150 to you. Which is why you didn't pay it. And that's fine. But it's obviously worth $150 to a lot of other people.
