I have an interesting British .303 No 4. Mk 1* that my dad handed down to me. I love it, but have no use for .303 right now and am trying to consolidate my calibers to NATO. From the limited research I've done, this rifle appears to be a scrubbed(meaning the actual identification engraving has been removed off the receiver) Long Branch Canadian receiver (several other parts on the rifle appear to have the Canadian identification mark), and a mix of a few parts from 2-3 British manufacturers. The UK manufacturer's markings that I found are VNS (Viners Ltd. ), S.M. on the front sight post and bolt (Singer Manufacturing), and finally WL (Wilkinson's Ltd.). The overall condition of the rifle on a scale of poor to new, would be fair. I believe the stock is walnut and it has several gouges, the usual scratches, and bumps one would expect from a used 1942 rifle. There are several markings on this rifle I have not been able to identify (or even interpret) and are very interesting. Includes one used magazine that is not serial #'ed, but appears original to the rifle. The bore is a little dark, but the rifling looks in great+ condition. I have the rear flip sight that is 300 and 600 meters marked, but am missing the pin or whatever is used to hold it in place on the receiver (easily ordered from Numrich or Sarco Inc. for a few $$) Not a collectible in my opinion, but a fantastic shooter. With a little TLC, I believe this rifle will clean up very nicely.

PS: Import markings are directly on the barrel. Century Arms imported it. And the serial # is electro-penciled on the left side of the receiver. If anything I said is incorrect or you'd like to add from what I've described or the pictures, please feel free to chime in on the thread. Thanks!

I'm asking $240 FTF in Houston, TX. As usual, I require you to show me Texas ID or Texas CHL simply as proof of residency. I do not require a bill of sale.

I just want to get this posted for now. Allow me a 2 minutes or so and I'll get pictures up.

My rifle is the left one in the picture. I have since removed the scope and rail, and they are NOT included in the sale.

Yes sir I have fired about 30 rounds myself, however I strongly recommend taking it to a professional gunsmith to look it over before further firing.

Update: I will actually take $160. Had a friend look at the stock and we both agreed that the stock is actually not in bad shape and would likely be gauged as in Good Condition. I'll consider trades for a quality kegerator in new/like-new condition.

Any chance you'll be in Austin anytime soon?

Also, I would suggest updating the price on your original post so that the lazy people that don't read all the posts will see your actual asking price.
