    Hondo Air Base used to have a flight training unit there before it closed.

    Fair enough. I looked it up on airnav. Typical WWII training base. A 6000’ runway and a 5500’ one.

    Still…no major repair or modification services listed. No tower. And as best i can tell a -200 needs 6000’ at gross to take off

    I still can’t come up with any reason for that much heavy iron at that airport other than some governments BS.

    @majormadmax. What’s the balanced field length for a B737?

    I spent almost 42 years working for Uncle Sam in one capacity or another. After reading about DHS warrants being okay for TSA use by illegals, I'm now ashamed I ever did. When I worked in DC the last 20 years of my working life, I ran into many sleaze bags. Mostly Dems, but a few Republicans. I can't believe our great nation has been bought down to its knees with a bunch of woke, socialist Progressives. I used to tell my liberal friends, that every true liberal I ever knew was a closet bigot. It still holds true today.

    God Bless and keep us safe.

    Why would M3 have the answer to that question. I fly into/out of HDO regularly. There is a Part 145 repair station on HDO.

    Also, don’t assume those tails have moved recently, but even if they have, balanced field length is computed using actual takeoff weight; what you see on the internet is at max gross takeoff weight.

    ETA: you should investigate what Hondo Aerospace does.
