[Army 1911]

I got my first 1911 when Eisenhower was president. I was 11 at the time
Since then I have owned the following brands of pistols
Colt, walther, ruger, S&W, Kimber, Springfield Baer, Randall, IMI, St. Etienne (french martiial arms from 1822) Luger, Mauser, and others that I don't remember. Most were purchased prior to the 1968 laws.

The only shooter I ever had that was "plastic" was a Pea shooter in Elementary School and several water pistols.

Update: Saturday 18 May 08...
Just added two more a springer loaded and a 1919 made Colt Custom. Don't know who did the work but it shoots great. The Springer was on consignment and Sunday I was told the guy only ran 1 box through it.

I grew up in Massachusetts where owning guns is frowned upon so I did not start shooting until I moved to Georgia when I was 35. I had about 12 guns before my divorce in 1999 and then I had to sell them to pay for a lawyer.

Dang, some of you guys are scary. But I think I want to be/better be, on your side if things go bad.

I've got stuff I've had since I was about 11. Then got a few when my Dad died about 11 years ago. I've only sold a couple and gave one to my nephew and only recently actually bought a couple myself. Others were given to me.

A lot are old. Some handed down from my Grandpa and shot by me as a kid, some acquired by my Dad like the S&W Military/Police .38 Special from 1910ish and the 7mm Mausers and the best are the Winchester 12 gauge which was my Grandpa's as well as the single shot/bolt action Rem .22 that me and my cousins used to shoot "stuff" as kids.

Of course the Kimbers I've bought; one in December and one this month.

I've been buying, selling, and trading handguns since turning 21, almost 38 years ago.

My first purchase was a stupidly uninformed one. A Smith & Wesson Model 36 was my first personally owned handgun. An excellent weapon, but not for a 21 year old new handgun buyer.

Over the years, I have had (at one time or another) just about everything offered in the U.S. I have also been divorced, twice, which will pretty well give one the opportunity to start over.

Growing older has given me the maturity to know exactly what I want. My current line-up consists of 2 current production Colt Series 70 Government models, 3 Colt Commanders, 1 Colt New Agent, 3 Smith & Wesson revolvers (Centennial Airweight, 686 Plus, and a 629), a Glock 17, and a Bushmaster M4gery. I fire all these weapons on a regular basis, am very satisfied with them, and have no desire to "thin the herd".
