    If it were me in that situation, I would answer his question and then offer to show him my license.
    Yeah, treat him like anyone else had asked the question. Either answer or don't, but don't be a jerk just because it was a cop.

    He may be asking to let YOU know you are printing.

    He may be asking because he is a gun nut and wants to chat about your carry piece.

    He may be asking because you match the description of a recent armed robbary suspect.

    Cops can only be as cool as their customers are being at that moment...
