I'm trying to remove the front sight/bayonnet assembly on a yugo SKS. After the pins are removed, does the assembly unscrew like the grenade launcher, or do you tap it off with a dowel and hammer?

It is tight and I chewed up my rubber mallet before it started to budge. Figured out if you heat the sight with a wet rag wrapped around the barrel to keep it cool the sight will be easier to remove.

Thanks for the info! It WAS a PIA but I finally got it off. It would be easier with the right tools. Sounds like a good excuse to go buy some!
