Beaumont - any good places to eat?

We're 45 min away... and want to go out for a relaxed sit-down lunch/dinner.
Nothing too fancy, just good food.
Any recommendations based on personal experience?

Carraba's off I-10. Cheese and sausage stuffed mushrooms.

I liked Pappadeaux off I-10, the blackened catfish with shrimp etouffee was good for lunch and was only $20.

There should be some good mom & pop restaurants instead of the franchise chains.

There also was Tacos la Bamba on Calder which were good, if you like Mexican food.

I met my daughter what lives in cajunland <I thunk I raised her gooder than that > at the Wheelhouse a year ago. Busy joint but not excessively; good food and a water view that is better than looking out a window to a freeway. I would go there again.

Comfort, Q, steak, seafood, Mexican, Chinese, you get the idea . . . 'bout anything. :green: Bonus points if they don't rush you in & out.
