Anyone know a local skilled smith who can cut down a barrel?

I’m anticipating my form1 coming back soon and I want to take a barrel down 5 inches and have it rethreaded.

Looking for excellent work references or examples, even if price is higher than others.

Whip out your Necronomicon and see if you can't call forth zombie Randy Weaver? I heard he was good at cutting barrels.:what:

A hack-saw and some good bi-metal blades will do the trick for really cheap.

Measure twice, and cut once!
Amateur.

Sawzall and a well broke in blade.

Then a dremel to re crown and a pile of nuts properly sized to screw on the barrel to cut the threads back in. Grade 8 work the best.

If either of you were real men you would have recommended using a Harbor Freight angle grinder to do the job. ;)

Just visit and you’ll be impressed.

They are pretty great named group, but I'll chime in I used Briley cutting down a hunting.308. and I would not recommend them for this work.
Took twice as long as quoted. Then had leave longer because the muzzle attachment wasn't aligned properly. The barrel was also just flush cut off, no crown. (I should have asked about a crown, but was never brought up)

I used Gordy and sons on my next rifle. Faster, cheaper, better.
