If I get another gun next year it will probably be a compact 45 for carry. Depending on if I can shoot it as well as my 9mm subcompacts or 38 snubnose. My range rents the Glock 30S & the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8 Compact OSP 45. Yeah that pistol needs a longer name. Either of these will print a little but they're the smallest 45 pistols I know of that aren't 6+1. These are both 10+1. I have a full-size 45 house gun & it's fun to shoot but it's bigger & heavier.

Gotta leave Texas for a "CCW License"...but you can get a Texas LTC instead. And the best part is, concealment doesn't matter. I don't open carry often, but nobody has ever given me a second glace when I have.
Does the LTC allow concealed carry? I've not read the laws. I knew that there were reciprocal agreements with a lot of state. One direction (we reciprocate, they don't) only in the insane Blue states.

I don't travel out of state much any longer. Have family on East Coast, but since Covid have not been there.

    What I want are somewhat reasonable. A Ruger 4" GP 100, a dual caliber Diamondback Sidekick, a Taurus 942m 3" stainless, a Tavor7 or a POF Rouge.

What I'll end up with, if I'm lucky, is a cheap airsoft from Walmart.

I knew what LTC stood for, it must be my age and prior conditioning. I have not put much thought about it, until recently. Was reluctant to have my name on another list.

I've been considering getting a CCW license, but my favorite revolver is a bit large to conceal. Uberti 357mag 5-1/2". Beautiful gun and I love shooting it, but it is heavy and not small frame.

I've been looking a Anderson Manufacturing's Kiger-9c. I've drug my feet on 9mm auto pistols, small size brass and limited bullet weight. And auto pistols have limitations in range of loads that will cycle properly. My revolver will eat whatever I feed it within a wide range.

I have mixed emotions about carrying a pistol, but the world we are in today makes me less sure it is safe traveling without one.

Any weapon will be a set of compromises. In recent years, we carry mostly G26 & G19’s, with a PCC using the common magazines.

Under Texas’ peculiar licensing & laws, one needs a CL in order to carry openly most places. Also, a lot of places prohibit OC but allow CC with the license; like HEB stores.

As I tell my GK’s & other newbies, the most important characteristics of any carry gun are comfort & ‘’conceal-ability’’; b/c it will be mostly likely to actually be there when needed.

All my real life incidents came with very little or no advance warning.

    Good Luck !

Sig P228 but mainly because it's hard to find one for sale locally. I'm even considering a M11-A1 since they're somewhat more common.

I bought one from a Navy SEAL about 15 years ago, and its by far my favorite pistol. No idea what that guy did to that pistol, but it shoots like a dream. Crazy accurate and almost no recoil.

My wanna get gun is a Beretta 20g shotgun. Optima 400 or something like that. Bad timing right now, but I've been thinking about it for almost a year. Bought a Charles Daly SA 20g that I have not shot yet because the deal was too good to pass up. Bought it for my girls, but I want to shoot it too. Have a friend who has switched to 410 for busting clays. Its a challenge for him. He got bored of almost never missing with a 12, then a 20.

I'd like one of the old varmint/fur harvesting chamberings.
    22 Hornet,
    218 Bee
    Etc......

Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder.

Wanted one of those for a long time. My BIL has one, and its a tack driver. Bought other stuff, and forgot about the Hornet till someone mentions it.

Take a look at the Smith & Wesson M&P 45 Compact. Its 8+1 with a slimmer, more comfortable grip than the Glock 30SF or Gen 4 Glock 30. Can take the longer 10 & 12 round mags from the full size guns. It was the first Glock 19 sized M&P and was a very nice shooter. Can get with or without the 1911 type thumb safety.

Great question! 6.5 Grendel for me. I have lots of long range shooters…not sure I need another one.
Do it. I got on the Grendel bandwagon a long time ago. Won an upper in a TGT meetup a long time ago (hmm, early Hicksville - definitely 10+ years ago). Built an AR, loved it so much, got a bolt Howa mini action on it. It's, to me, a fantastic cartridge. I like shooting long range and it delivers there. It's got enough ummph to take down most animals. Recoil is nothing.

If you're looking for a small 9mm in that price range, consider the Canik pistols. They put a lot of value in that price range...great triggers, excellent reliability, and a lot of extras (holster, tools, etc.) I'm considering one of their METE MC9 pistols for CCW.

If you want to stick with revolvers, the Taurus 856 snubs are great. I have a stainless-steel 2" that I routinely carry. Six shots and reliable....
