2022 Cycling Thread

Mountain biking in Houston sucks, but I still do it. Tons of pedaling & no good downhill reward. We have pine roots in spades, though, if roots are your thing.

I drag my bike up to Huntsville State Park and the Sam Houston Natl Forest pretty often for a change of pace. Still no good downhills. I need to venture to Austin more. Anyone ever ridden Spider Mountain?

And a picture of my favorite current bike.

The only hills I see are on the sidewalks. There are a couple around George Bush Park.

First half was into a 14mph south wind. Second half back ………WOOHOO!

Woke up stupid early. Couldn’t get back to sleep so

Had a 20+mph south wind this morning. Thought , ok, it will suck for the first half, but be a breeze on the way back.

Believing the weather channel hourly reports is for suckers. About 45 minutes into the ride south, the wind shifted and was now at my back. Oh well.

at least it’s was only about a 10mph wind from the north going back.

Got back into MTB after many years away. Had to give up MX due to injuries. Still riding my 2005 Giant Reign 2. It is pretty much like new since I had it built years ago and then put it away. Usually ride Sugar Land trails which are great! Last ride was Bridgeland and it was a good change, but lots of roots!

I actually live right by George Bush Park in Kelliwood and can ride to the trails from my house. They used to have some actual mountain bike trails in there, but I think they have destroyed most of them. The concrete path is nice to take the kids on rides for sure.

Kind of a meandering ADD sorta ride this morning

Rode just enough to get me over 150 miles this week. Should be heading home later today.

Rode some while I was home, nothing all that far.

Rode ten miles this morning after 6 hours sleep and a 14 hour drive back to Nebraska

Was home for almost two weeks. Got a few rides in. Back in the land of corn and 60 degrees after riding in 80-90s feels cold.

Going to just post weekly totals unless I go someplace new .

last week I only got 52 miles but I did drive from Ennis to Lincoln last week as well.
