Good on you for letting him go. You should scrub that boot with some kind of detergent that breaks down enzymes where he was biting on it. Wear nitrile gloves.
That was a couple weeks ago, hopefully they’re good now.
I don’t think he got his teeth anywhere near the leather though, his head was probably half the size of your pinky fingernail, it was a little bitty one.
Normally when you see one snake there is another one, the often run in pairs so be careful.

I am not having copperheads (or similar) on my property posing a risk to my family or my dog. There are plenty of harmless snakes to keep the rodent population in check.
King snakes are welcome. Copperhead are not.
