What’s the best budget 22lr lever action rifle that doesn’t struggle to cycle rounds.

Get that Henry lever action H001. Eats everything I put in it, good construction, and at least for me, tolerates not being cleaned as regularly as it should be (especially useful for those of us that don't fully clean every gun we shoot every time we shoot :green: ).
Sounds like a decent gun to have out in the pasture.

I have a friend that has the Henry... he loves it. Says that it just works, all the time, no issues, and he brags about how smooth it is...
I was going to get one, but stumbled on a Marlin 39 that I couldn't let go by. I've seen the Henrys at gun shows pretty cheap... the Ft Worth show probably has the best selection of Henrys, although nearly any show will have some. You might check at Scheel's, also.

The Henry .22WRM’s are popular around here, as our « game preserves » restrict feral hog hunters to rimfires during times the deer seasons are closed.

I’ve heard that the Henry’s have ’’rough cycles’’ compared to the old Marlin’s ? Is this correct ?

My experience is opposite to this. The Henrys I've worked the action on have been buttery smooth, without exception.
My Marlin 39 isn't quite that easy to operate. It's very smooth, but it just feels "tighter", for lack of a better description. You feel the parts moving against each other.... smoothly, but it's still not "slick".... hard to describe.

No need for a new thread, but are there any .22 lever guns that can shoot .22short, .22long, and .22LR reliably? Hopefully with a threaded muzzle?

Pretty sure the Henry H001 shoots all of those without issue. I personally have shot all three without any issues, including mixing ammo intentionally all in the same reload to see if it would cause an issue. Ran smoothly with no issues for me, and they were all cheap rounds.

For the threaded barrel, you would need the H001TSPR version, which I think is called the Henry Frontier.
